Well, its 23.30-Ive come in from am evening of lindy hopping (started at 7pm) and am glowing, shall we say! Eating couscous with fresh herbs and tomatoes, and listened to Joules Holland very loudly on the way home. I doesn't get better than this, dears. I am a happy man.
Now I was going to tell you a bit about Balboa (so you can get off your pommels!) As lindy hop started in the mid to late thirties om the East Coast, in new York, centred round the Savoy Hotel, Balboa was rising in the West. It is generally danced to much faster music, but smaller steps, and generally on very crowded dance floors, hence the basic move is very close together. The women dance with high heels, they lean against their partner, resting their head on his chest. Bal swing is a variation, incorporating some of the swing and turns a la lindy hop, but stalwarts do see it as a separate dance, not as an extension of Balboa, me, I'm just relieved Im still in one piece at the end of the dance!
Now, its late, I smell, and I haven't finished my tea, so sleep well, and I'll see you in the morning
